Jennifer Dean, DDS, MD
We are excited to introduce Dr. Jennifer Dean who has recently joined Galleria Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. We are proud to have expanded our practice with someone who will endeavor to provide our patients with the outstanding, high quality patient care they deserve.
Dr. Dean was born and raised in Southern California where she completed her undergraduate education at UC Irvine, graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science in Development and Cell Biology. This is when she fell in love with dentistry, realizing how much she could change a life with her hands. She loves being able to transform someone’s outlook on life by restoring their smile and giving them confidence and security that they might not have had before.
After earning her Bachelor’s Degree at UC Irvine, Dr. Dean went onto earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree at UCLA School of Dentistry. She then went on to complete a 6-year Residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at UCSF. She also completed her Medical Degree at the prestigious UCSF School of Medicine, which consistently ranks in the top 5 medical schools in the country. She also completed extensive training in adult and pediatric anesthesia at UCSF, one of the top ranked anesthesia training programs in the nation. This gives her an extremely strong foundation in safe and comfortable anesthesia care. She also completed an internship in general surgery. In her final year of training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery she served as Chief Resident at UCSF.
While in residency she worked at multiple hospitals and clinics in the San Francisco area, including the SF Veteran’s Affairs Hospital, Benioff Children’s Hospital and San Francisco General Hospital. This has given Dr. Dean a wide breath of experience including maxillofacial trauma and reconstruction, orthognathic surgery, temporomandibular joint, sleep apnea and implantology. Through her training she enjoyed providing care for patients of all ages and backgrounds.
Dr. Dean strives to provide every patient with safe and quality care by providing an open dialogue with her patients in order to ensure their needs are met. Assuring an open and honest line of communication is paramount to Dr. Dean’s philosophy of patient care. She feels that patients should always feel empowered and comfortable in their dental care decisions and prides herself on her skill at maintaining patient-doctor relationships based on mutual trust and respect.
She now resides in the Sacramento area with her husband, Bryan, and young son. Dr. Dean also enjoys giving back to our country’s veterans by working and teaching at the Northern California Veteran Affairs dental clinics. Outside of work she enjoys exploring the outdoors and spending time with her family and pets.
